Artist Bio:

A spirit of Consciousness and a lover of Righteousness, child of Rastafari and the Universe. This artist can not be defined or placed in a box. A singer with a style of his own, creativity flows through him effortlessly. Born Chad Emerson Waterman, July 8th 1983 in Canarsie and raised in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, NY. to a Guyanese mother and a father of Bajan descent. This has helped to instill alot of vital qualities in which turned him into the man he is today.

New York is a place that shaped his mental toughness and character. Being from Brooklyn and experiencing the many different cultures mostly West Indian, it was only natural to embrace reggae music, which was always playing. However hip hop of course was his first love which is the more dominant genre of music growing up in the inner city of New York. Moving to Baltimore at 15 awakened his inner spirituality. A series of life changing events took place that occured while living there that led him to do some serious soul searching. Ultimately discovering a talent for writing poetry which transitioned into writing songs.

Listening to alot of roots and conscious reggae music really made an Impact on Chaddy and his embracing the Rastafari Livity. Artists such Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Sizzla, Jah Cure, Garnett Silk to name a few are some of his heavy influences. Bob Marley being an artist he was familiar with and exposed to from a young age, but never understood the message this musical prophet was trying to bring forth at the time until later on.

Emerging unto the scene in early 2010 with his first two professionally recorded tracks called “Warriaz” and “Stress Free” produced by Little Judah of the Black Rose Sound System out of France. Chaddy Royal is definitely here to make a statement and spread his message across the globe. A message of Love, Justice against Oppression, Equality, and the teachings of Rastafari. Chaddy Royal quotes: “I feel that reggae music is music of Empowerment and Substance”. “I’ve learned so much things from this music that one could never imagine learning in school book, but like they say half the truth has never been told and I feel compelled to share that truth with you”. New album “The Awakening” recorded in South Africa executive produced by Bereket Tafari and engineered by Letsatsi Ratsipi, is currently available for digital download on Itunes, Cdbaby, and Amazon!
